Factory-Reconditioned Singer 2950
The Singer Model 2950 is a 50-stitch function machine with many features to make your sewing projects so easy. With a 1-step buttonhole you will be able to make a whole row of identical buttonholes quickly. The machine features 3 needle positions to help get that top stitching in just the right spot; a top drop in bobbin and easy bobbin winder; a free arm for sewing those pant legs and sleeves; horizontal threading for smoother stitching, and adjustable stitch density (especially helpful for use on buttonholes on light or heavy weight fabrics). With the machine comes an instruction manual (in English, French, and Spanish) to show you how to get the most from your machine. The 50-stitch functions include everything from basic construction (straight stitching, elastic application) to a little more advanced construction stitches (different overedge stitches, blind hem, button sewing) to several decorative stitches (crescent, applique, monogramming). The machine also has a compartment for storing the accessories. And boy, are there a lot of accessories! You will receive a pack of needles and a twin needle, 4 bobbins, special purpose presser foot, buttonhole foot, button sewing foot, zipper foot, blind hem foot, 1/4" foot, darning/embroidery foot, dust cover, small bottle of oil, 2 spool caps, an extra spool pin and felt, stitching guide, feed cover, screwdriver, and a lint brush. There is a limited 1 year warranty on Singer reconditioned sewing machines.
Factory-Reconditioned Singer 2950 Review
I purchased this sewing machine almost three years ago. I took it out of the box, sewed a one yard seam to make sure it worked and reboxed it to store until I had room to set it up. When I took it out of the box again and set it up to sew 35' of seam, the hand wheel disengaging plate cover (used when winding bobbins) came off because the plastic hinge pin holding it in place broke.
I called Singer to ask about a replacement hinge pin and was told I would have to take it to a regional warranty center for repair at my own expense. When I called a warranty center, I was quoted a price of $59.99 to fix it. I also called local authorized repair centers, but was told they don't usually service these machines because they are a "discount outlet" item.
This is my fourth Singer sewing machine in 40 years of sewing. All the rest have been outstanding products that I handed down to others when I got a new one, but this is the last Singer product I'll buy. When you consider the purchase price of a sewing machine you shouldn't have to factor in another $60 to fix a 30 cent plastic pin.
