Tango is an amazing mare. She's mainly been used as a trail horse and does amazing at that. She is fine alone or in groups, if she's in a group she tends to want to lead but you can get her to follow too, down roads, fields, woods, hills, up to her knees in a lake. She's been by deer, pheasants, turkey on trails and just looked at them and kept going. (She's had rabbits run about 2 feet in front of her and she just stopped and watched them run) We have chickens and ducks that like to scratch around in her pen, so sometimes I look out there and she's grazing with a bunch of birds around her. She's also great around cats and dogs, 4-wheelers, boats, bikes, gun shots, etc. Nothing seems to scare her, and she has great endurance.
She has the potential to do pretty much anything. Both the breeder/trainer and the other trainer I've been with both say she'd do amazing play day and contesting horse. her father was a reining horse and loved it. Tango hasn't been trained to run under saddle, but I can tell she would love it. When I let her out in the roundpen I've seen her run faster than I've seen any horse run before, and then stop instantly and the next thing I know she's going the other way. She tucks her butt down when she stops to turn, so I know she'd be great at reining. She'd also do great in cutting, barrel/pole bending, and probably any other kind of contest there is. I asked her to open up from a canter to a gallop and you could just see in her eyes that she was so excited about going faster. And as soon as I asked her to go from her gallop to her canter she did. She's a great girl and I can't tell you how fast of a learner she is.
She would also make a great pleasure or dressage horse. She has an amazing extended trot and I've seen her slow it down to a great western jog. When I ride her it's kind of an in between, but with some training I know she can do amazing in western or english, or both! She loves to show off, and she's not trained yet to do it on cue she can piaffe (trot in place) as well.
Tango is such a good girl, she just needs the finishing touches put on her. I'm a very timid rider who is content walking/trotting in our back yard, and Tango wants to do so much more than that. I've cantered her once, and the trainers have cantered her several times, and boy is it the smoothest canter. It's litterally like a rocking horse canter. She can canter fast or collect her for a slow canter. If we don't canter her regularly, when we ask her to canter she gives a little buck before she goes into it, but it's nothing serious. (I'm a very inexperienced rider and it was fine when she did it with me)
She's been shown halter, showmanship, lungeline, and western riding. I can litterally go out there without a rope or halter and have her do a perfect showmanship pattern with her, without touching her. She clips great, bathes great, her loading/trailering is like a dream. I just put the lead rope around her neck, walk her to the back of the trailer and she loads herself. She's been in step up, ramp, slant, and straight load. At the shows/fairs she's been in tie stalls and box stalls, and does great in either one. She'll have her coggins done and all of her spring shots soon, and she stands great for the ferrier/vet.
I love this girl so much, and everyone who has met her agrees. She's such a little goober with so much personality! She loves people and will follow people who are walking down the road along her fenceline until she gets to the end. She loves to play. She isn't a big fan of carrots or apples but she loves applesauce, animal crackers, jelly beans and oreos. Her favorite thing so far are peppermints, boy does she love them.
If you have any questions at all feel free to email me at [please email replies to this ad by using the response form below] or call at 989-529-4106. I love Tango so much and I can't wait to see what she can do. Thank you
Sammi
