A review or 2 Great Watch, I upgraded to the eco-drive from a watch that recharged by wrist
motion. So far I'm a lot happier with the eco-drive. It holds a charge
a lot longer, so it's not a problem to leave it unworn for a day or
two. I didn't like the green military style band on this one, but it
was easy to swap for a leather 20mm band. The stock band was a tad
small for my wrist. I would expect a lot of men would need to swap it.
The numbers look big in the picture, and they're big on the watch. I
like the big numbers, others might not.
May 2008 Update:
I still like this watch as much as the day it arrived! It works
perfectly, never runs out of battery and looks good. For those of you
who haven't paid for a decent watch, you might not realize you're
missing out on a good quality glass / crystal face. Mine still is
scratch free. The watch looks pretty much brand new, even though I wear
it every day.
Beauty of a watch This little watch is great! It's everything it claims and more. I
collect military style chronographs, and because of this watch's simple
beauty it's become one of my favorites. The only problem I have with
this order is the shipping and handlling cost, yet even with that
added, the Citizen "Chronograph Canvas Watch" is still a great deal. My everyday, work watch I own three Citizen watches and I am very happy with all of them.
Citizen watches are very high quality for the price range and I have
yet to be disappointed. Between the quality, style, and Eco-Drive
system I cannot recommend them enough.
I bought this watch to wear to work and wanted something that could
get beat up a bit but still look decent. It has succeeded in both
areas. It's reasonably tough and I think it looks quite good, something
that is often hard to tell from the Amazon pictures.
As others have said the band is quite small. With other brands of
watches I am using one of the last 2-3 holes in the band. With this
watch I use the second largest size (the second hole). The canvas band
has been quite durable after several months.
Like all Citizen watches it does have a bit more heft than other
brands due to the Eco-Drive. Not particularly noticeable unless you
really want a light watch.
Extremely easy to set just like any other basic watch. The 24 dial makes setting the date slightly easier.
If a chronograph is important to you this isn't really the watch to
get. If I wanted exact measurements I would get a digital watch. The
chronograph is handy, but obviously don't expect the precision you
would get with a digital.
Eco-Drive is great. I am someone who usually wears a watch for 2
years and then lets it sit for the next 2 years until I get around to
getting the battery replaced. With the Eco-Drive I sometimes keep my
watches charged by putting them under a fluorescent bulb at night if I
am not wearing them frequently. Not that it's really needed. I had one
Citizen watch lose it's charge after sitting in the dark for 2 weeks.
When I went to wear it and saw the time had stopped I just went outside
and let the sunlight hit it for 30 seconds and it started right back
up. Usually with my watches they get enough charge from daily use to
keep their charge for days to weeks. Besides that one time, losing
power hasn't been a problem for me.
