Maison Jeanne
D’Arc will suit those looking for a holiday within a friendly French
community. The village is very pretty but remains somewhat undiscovered
by the tourists who visit this beautiful part of France. It sits on a
hill overlooking the Languedoc plain right down to The Mediterranean
some 10 kilometres away. The village has its own bar/bistro serving
superb lunches and evening tapas all at very good prices, the bistro
welcomes families. There is also a general provisions shop and a post
office, the next village, just 2 kms away has several shops, bars and
restaurants as well as bakers and a very good butcher.
Maison
Jeanne D’Arc is furnished to a high standard, the owner has taken great
trouble to ensure that the typical French style is also of a standard
to meet the exacting requirements of The British guest. The ground
floor has a long entrance vestibule leading to a large sunny sitting
room with comfortable sofas. French windows lead out from here to the
garden and small pool (9ft by 9ft). Next to the sitting room is the
large and well-equipped kitchen dining area with cooker, dishwasher,
fridge-freezer, and microwave.
On the first floor there are two
bedrooms, a twin and a double and a shower room with twin wash hand
basins and w.c, there is also a laundry room with washing machine and
tumble drier. On the second floor there are further double and twin
bedrooms and another shower room with w.c.
The small rear garden is
fully enclosed and private. There is a plunge pool and large BBQ area
as well as sun beds and table and chairs for outside dining.
The
property is in the village square (‘place’ in French). There is parking
in the place and surrounding roads. One of the advantages of this
property is that within a few minutes walk you can be in the village
parc with tennis courts and a childrens play area or stroll up through
the old ‘batiments’ and get a panoramic view of the Languedoc plain
from the church. A tiny village perched on a hill, St. Pons de
Mauchiens is a typical example of the "circulade" type villages dating
back to the XI and XII centuries.
