Great TV, awesome looks
It's a genuinely nice and cutting-edge appearing television. The red color that is so brilliant on the product's pictures are merely a shade of dark cherry red that is seeable just under bright light. This reddish shadow appears unbelievably cool! Completely contrary to the product photographs. If you have modern dwelling, this is the set to have. Forget that Sony with that ugly aluminum things around it!

The set has not turned itself off as yet as other users described, therefore possibly it was an defective lot they acquired. The picture is awe-inspiring, finest I have come across as yet (on 50,000:1 contrast ratio it better be acceptable!). It has RGB input signal for personal computer, but as well you'll be able to configure HDMI input signal #2 to be an personal computer input signal (for DVI furnished video cards). I did not know about it, and tried to run my PC through other HDMI interfaces that I did not adjust to be personal computer inputs. The effect was .... TV quality picture on personal computer screen, totally clipped, blurred text, and so forth.

Pretty atrocious. So I set the HDMI #2 input to be personal computer input signal, hooked my personal computer to it, and all of a sudden I was starring with my jaw wide open at the most sharp liquid crystal display personal computer screen of all time! Text is razor sharp!! As well the color saturation and all got set to the correct personal computer colorings, and not the television colors. Run a photograph slide show (no, not THAT photos, lol) on this and you will begin dating that machine, it's so freakin' hot!
Excellent valueBought this particular model sight unseen based on its many reviews,
including the high rating it got from CR. It has not disappointed!
The Amazon delivery was effortless, the set up was a breeze, and
the picture is phenomenal. Some reviewers have complained that the
sound is not loud enough. I don't know why they say that unless they
expect to blow out windows--even an old geezer like me has absolutely
no trouble hearing it in the large room where it resides with the
volume set far less than 50%.
Can't speak to it's performance with blu-ray but standard cable, digital broadcasts, and standard DVDs show up brilliantly.

Incredible HDTVWe did a fair amount of research on both LCD and Plasma before buying
the LN52A650. We were leaning towards Plasma until we looked at this
model. Although admittedly the top of the line Plasmas might have a
slight edge in presenting fine detail, this TV is simply more enjoyable
to view. We found it's bright, anti-glare screen gorgeous and far
superior to all others in the store. With 1080p, the details are sharp
and crisp enough for just about anyone. After getting it home, we
couldn't be more pleased. The picture is breath-taking!
We were slightly concerned over reading of complaints of glare, but
we are not having this problem. The set replaces a large rear
projection screen, which gave us horrific glare off of our front window
and we were concerned that this unit would do the same, but am very
pleased to report that glare is minimal. Compared to my LCD computer
screen, I guess it gives off more glare, but then it is 52" and has a
glossy trim...both of which are bound to catch more light. However,
this is basically a non issue for us...we are thrilled with the reduced
glare we are experiencing compared to our rear-projection. We were also hesitant on its red-trimming....concerned it would
look ugly in our living room. I can say, you barely notice it is red
trimmed. The red tinge is subtle, and for all intents and purposes, the
set looks black. The remote is nice...easy to use and agreeably good sized (I hate tiny remotes with buttons you need a magnifying glass for).
When the set is turned off, there is a very small red light at the
bottom right that stays illuminated. We like this since it is easy to
accidentally leave a tv on all night (when cable is turned off) without
this type of feedback. There is one important negative. The sound quality of the speakers
is not very good. To be fair, we have been listening to a 5-speaker
home theater system for 8 years, so perhaps our ears are spoiled.
However, compared to our rear-projection, the speakers on this are very
inferior. If you are not going to use an external sound system, I would
recommend listening to the set in a brick and mortar store before
buying. I would highly-highly recommend this television. Exquisite picture,
solidly-built, huge 52" screen, nice menu features, plenty of ports in
back, comes assembled in box (swivel stand is already attached), &
easy to set up.
