Greco Guitars On eBay-Buy Here!

In the late 60’s through the late 70’s to early 80’s Greco produced some wonderful guitars copied from the famous Gibson & Fender models. On the Gibson side they have designs reminiscent of the Les Paul, SG, Flying V, ES-175, & ES-335 among others as well as copies of the Thunderbird & EB-3 bass models. On the Fender side they have designs based on the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jaguar, & Jazzmaster models as well as versions of the Fender Jazz & Precision bass. These copies are excellent renditions of the much more expensive models they are designed after & have become very popular & much sought after on eBay.

My website, www.designeracousticguitars.com , has a link to all the current eBay auctions for Greco guitars so be sure to bookmark my site to keep you continually updated on the new Greco auctions available!

Greco guitars were designed by the Japanese Kanda Shokai Company which was established in 1948 & is best known for becoming a part of Fender Japan. The Greco brand name was introduced in 1960. Electric guitar production really took off in 1966-1967 with the introduction of Greco models based on the Fender Telecaster. Around this time they also produced guitars similar to the Hagstrom & EKO designs. These guitars are very similar to the Ibanez guitars based on the same models. They also produced a copy of Violin bass made popular by Paul McCartney

In the 1970’s Kanda Shokai began to design many fine Greco guitars based on the Gibson designs including the Gibson Les Paul, SG & Flying V models. Those produced in the early 70’s have bolt on necks & the Greco Logo looked more like “Gneco”. By the mid to late 70’s these Gibson copies had set necks. Some have the open book Gibson style headstocks while others have more of a guild type headstock. The Greco logo began to appear in equally spaced letters.

In late 1979 Greco introduced some very high quality replicas of Gibson & Fender model guitars known as the Super Real Series. By 1982 they had introduced the Greco Mint Collection which continued the high standards set by the Super Real Series.

After Kanda Shokai became part of Fender Japan in 1982 Greco ceased production of its Fender type models. By the early 90’s Greco had ceased producing the open book headstock Gibson replicas although they are still producing new guitars to this day.

You can find many of these vintage Greco Guitars on eBay right now. My website at www.designeracousticguitars.com includes a link to all Greco guitars currently listed on eBay.
