Antique Silver Marrow Scoop London 1760 George II
This is a good example of an Antique Solid Silver Marrow Scoop. It is of a good solid weight and it has lovely crisp clear hallmarks. The back of the bowl of the scoop has an engraved armorial of a lion's head and at the very base of the scoop if you look very closely there appears to be some remains of an engraving but as only parts of the numbers and letters are still left they cannot be made out
Assay Office: LONDON
Date: 1760
Makers Marks: WF or WT (possibly William Fountain)
Dimensions: 9 inches long in total, the bowl of the scoop is 3 inches long. It weighs 1.5/8 oz (47g)
Condition: It is in very good condition but there is just a very very small dent to the rounded top edge of the scoop but this is very minor
Remarks: This is a very good example of an antique Georgian solid silver 248 year old marrow scoop and a must for any collector
