Can this machine seal foil or laminated bags?

Yes, it is designed to seal any thermoplastic material, including Polyethylene, Polypropylene, and laminations containing foils, such as those used to package coffee, or those that reduce electrostatic charge that are typically used to package electronic components.

How big of a bag can I seal on this machine?

In theory you could seal bags as wide as the seal element is. In practice, though, this would mean centering the bag perfectly onto the machine, something that is difficult to do if you need to seal many bags. Take the total heat element width, and subtract 1 inch ( 2.5 cm). That is the approximate width of the biggest bag you should seal on any given model.

How do I figure the settings to seal my bags?

Setup is an extremely simple procedure and should take no more than a minute or two. Before you begin read all machine documentation carefully as it includes important safety information. Plug in and turn on Sealer (if applicable). Set up sealing time knob to level one. Put bag in sealer and test. If the bag is not sealed increase sealing timer to the next level. Repeat the process until you get the minimum time necessary to seal your bag.

Do you recommend any parts we should keep in stock?

You should always keep a few Heating Elements and Teflon Strips, as these have a limited life span. The machines come with a kit of spares, but keep an eye on how many you have left.

How often should I change the Heating Elements and Teflon strips?

These machines come equipped with Teflon-infused fiberglass strips, and flat-type heating elements with terminals. Factors that affect component life span include the type, quality, and thickness of the material you seal, how often the machine is used, how its operated, and how its maintained.

Here are a few tips that will extend the life of your components:

a) Use the minimum necessary temperature to seal the bags

b) Keep the machine free of plastic build-up or debris by carefully applying a clean rag over it

c) Spray liquid silicone on the sealing area - it acts as an additional agent against adhesion and helps dispel heat away from the fabric.

You should not attempt to use the machine unless we instruct you to do so. If we deem damage to be superficial or easily repairable, we may choose to send to any needed replacement parts. If, on the other hand, we regard the damage to be extensive, we will ask you to repackage the machine with all original the packaging materials. We will contact you with the course of action to send you a replacement machine, open a damaged claim with the shipper, and instruct them to retrieve the damaged product from your premises.
