I am unique to most wood carvers because I carve what is called "outset" letters. In this process I first outline the letter and then carve a background around the letter, creating a sort of “island” or 3D effect. This process takes much more time and attention to detail as you can see. if you do any searching for hand carved signs on EBay, the internet, fairs or craft shows, you will find most wood carved signs have what we call "inset" letters. These are letters that are carved into the board and usually painted black or some other color. My outset letters are far superior to inset letters.
