I don’t pretend to know a lot about relationships, but I do know that people shouldn’t fall out of love. That's why most people read The Magic of Making Up. For about 20 years of my life, I was completely cynical about the love between a man and a woman. I defined love as familiarity, and I know that familiarity breeds contempt. I lived an entire lifetime of one-night-stands, spring flings, and “want me to call you a cab?” relationships. I was 43 years old before I found the love of my life. Out of any two people who have ever fallen in love, I think we may be the most different. There was nothing “familiar” about us. Freud can scratch our names off the list. She wasn’t anything like my mother, nor was I like her father.
I wish I had found The Magic of Making Up sooner. She filed for divorce after 5 years of marriage. There wasn’t any cheating, abuse, wavering hearts, and our sex life was definitely up to par. The reason she gave was that she couldn’t stand that I was gone 6 months out of the year. I’m a professional baseball scout, so my job requires long trips to the middle of nowhere. I never felt lonely knowing that I had her, but I guess I never paid attention to how she felt. A long story short, I decided not to quit on the love of my life.
I was going to surprise her by making her a video with the entire roster of the Front Royal Cardinals holding up an “I Love You” sign. I know that she’s an avid YouTube surfer, so I was going to put the video there. That’s when I saw a video of T. W. Jackson talking about his book, The Magic of Making Up. I immediately paid a visit to his website, and began reading about his take on relationships. I felt a connection with T. W., or T Dub as he likes to be called. I felt like he was delving into the human condition and coming back with ways to connect with anyone on an extremely personal level. Even though the price of his book is only $39, that’s still not something I’m handing out to someone I don’t trust.
Everything T Dub mentioned reminded me of my situation. I was that guy who was a wreck and wanted his woman back. The book covers everything I needed and them some. It would work great for men and women much younger than I, whether they’re trying to reconnect, or make that first move. From the very first page, I was already feeling better about my plight. T Dub’s Fast Forward Technique helped me to get over my depression and keep my eye on the goal of actually winning her back – not just desperately pleading.
The next section gave me a bunch of Tell Tale signs to use to see if she even still cared enough to have me back. I was absolutely thrilled to find that she displayed the majority. After reading the entire book, I was primed and ready to get her back. I used the tactics found in the book, including what women crave the most, when to apologize and when you shouldn’t, and the bonding secret. We rekindled our romance in a week, and I didn’t even have to quit my job. Though to make her happy, I put in for a managerial job.
