Belize is a female blue and gold macaw that I am fostering. She is about 34 years old but has alot of good years left to give since the large macaws can live 50+ years. Belize has a preference for women and takes about a week or so to adjust and bond with a new owner. She talks, loves to be kissed on her face and beak and receive head scratches. Belize is plucked on her chest and legs. These feathers are unlikely to ever grown back since she has had this compulsive habit for years. Belize steps up and allows me to lay her on my back in my arms like a baby. She loves all types of food and is very food motivated.
Belize is a pretty easy macaw as blue and golds go. She has only had two owners in her life and she is an awesome bird so I'm looking for devoted, serious people to adopt. Non smoking home only as cigarette smoke is very harmful to pet birds. She is not much of a constant screamer although she is a great watch bird and will alert you if someone so much as walks by the house. She would NOT do well as an apartment pet since macaws can be very loud. Belize eats a primarily pellet diet supplemented with a variety of nuts, fresh fruits and veggies, baby food, healthy human food and some seed as a treat.
Belize's does have an adoption fee- she is not free. This does not include a cage. She will need a cage that is at least 45" wide by 36" deep by 50" tall. She is not a bar chewer and won't break welds like some macaws.
