My brother and his girlfriend rented the first
floor of an old, three-story Victorian mansion in what used to be an
upscale area of St. Joseph, Missouri. Today, that area is filled with
unkempt yards, weeds knee high, and old houses with peeling paint.
When my brother moved in, we all went over for a
house celebration. No doubt about it, the house was gorgeous--from the
shoulder-high wood panels to the (still-functional) gas lamps
chandeliers, and detailed tile fireplace. (continued below)
