1975 Gibson Marauder

1975 Gibson Marauder
This 1975 Gibson Marauder
guitar was made about mid year. This was the first year of full
production. This model has the original Bill Lawrence designed
humbucker pickup at the neck, the single coil solid blade style pickup
at the bridge, and Gibson Deluxe tuners. This early version of the
Marauder has the 3 way selector switch. The pots are quiet, and this
guitar is capable of clean or gritty tones depending on settings and
your amp. The Marauder was Gibson's budget guitar at the time, but still
a quality guitar for 1975. Like most Gibson guitars, the Marauder is now
collectible and considered
vintage. They are still relatively easy to find and make a great
piece for any collector or a first "real" guitar for a beginner.

| The Marauder was in production
through 1979. During the 70's the American guitar industry was
having a rough time because of the influx of the Japanese market and
this guitar was Gibson's answer. Maple necks and Adler bodies was
something Gibson had never used before, but this helped with the cost.
Using one humbucker at the neck, and a single coil pickup at the bridge
was another big change, almost a nod of approval to rival
Fender. The 1975 Gibson Marauder first listed for approximately
$350.00 the first year. There were many price ranges for different
features but it topped out at approximately $560.00 on or around 1979.
