Whether you have a show horse, working horse, pleasure horse, or backyard friend, every horse needs to be balanced. Most farriers "eye" the hoof, guess at what they believe is a level foot, and may be off by several degrees. An unbalanced or unlevel hoof can lead to serious lameness and performance problems.
Eighty percent of all lamenesses come from incorrect shoeing. This is why when trimming the hoof, I will use specially crafted instruments designed to get the exact measurements of your horse's angles and toe length to ensure a perfect balance every time. My goal is to make and keep your horse sound and healthy, and performing to the best of his abilities. I am a certified farrier, member of the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association, and graduate of the Tucson School of Horseshoeing.
