Rome: Total War is a game of strategy comprised of turn-based strategy and real time tactics parts in which the player fights historical and fictitious battles within the Roman era. The game features large-scale battles of ancient times and involves thousands of warriors. It has a brand new high quality 3D graphics engine that is able to render over thirty thousand men on a single battlefield. Another feature of the game is the integration of the strategic and tactical views. The landscape for the battles is the same as seen on that particular spot on the strategic map where the armies meet. The player can also assume the roles roughly equivalent to those of generals such as Hannibal, commander-in-chief of the Carthaginian armies during the Second Punic War, the Gallic warlord Vercingetorix, and Julius Caesar.
Rome: Total War Gold Edition features the original Rome: Total War and its expansions, The Barbarian Invasions. It puts you in command of the ancient world's greatest armies. In this game, up to 10,000 men on screen at once are yours to command! In one offering, this is the opportunity for armchair Generals to conquer and control the greatest empire ever known by man.
