With The Backyardigans, Janice Burgess has created a wonderful show that is not only entertaining but also exposes children to a wonderful range of music. From the jaunty We're Going to Mars to the ska-inspired Rad Moves all the way to the disco-ish Shake Your Body to the Celtic-flavored Tree to Tree, Groove to the Music will keep your child and you humming for hours.
With Irish jig, country, old school funk and zydeco as only a small sample of the music genres these friends explore, there is truly something for everyone and it helps kids open their minds to different kinds of music. The music is sung by the TV characters (children) but is not the piercing and grating little kid voice that seemingly infiltrates all other kids' music.
The great thing about the Backyardigans CDs is that, in addition to being child-friendly, it's also parent friendly. Unlike other repetitive, irritating, mind-numbing kid CDs, these songs are fresh, well-sung, and downright hilarious. And youll love the fact that it introduces children to a wide variety of music styles!
