Not all gates are made the same. Some baby gates that are good for doorways just wont work well at the top of the stairs. For example, baby gates for doorways swing in both directions. This feature should not be present in baby gates that are installed at the top of the stairs. This is why this product is manufactured, the Evenflo Top of Stair Gate.
The Evenflo Top of Stair Gate can swing only in the direction that the parents want it to swing open. Using the swing control setting, the parents can configure the Evenflo Top of Stair Gate so that will not swing open over the stairs. A child, of course, could not operate this particular gate. Only the parent can release the swing gate using one hand.
The Evenflo Top of Stair Gate also has a four-point hardware mounting which makes it more secure than most baby gates. It can withstand the full weight of a baby and will not crumble down easily. The Evenflo Top of Stair Gate is 30 inches tall and its width can be expanded from 28 to 42 inches.
