Antique Silver Cake Basket 1834 Barnard & Sons
Heavy Solid Silver Cake Basket 1834 Barnard & Sons. This is an absolute beauty and certainly has the WOW factor. It is a gorgeous Heavy William IV Swing Handled Cake Basket which carries very clear hallmarks for London 1834 and the very good makers marks of Edward, Edward Jun, John & William Barnard.
It is a circular shape with applied flower and scroll rim. The body is divided into panels of flowers on a matted ground and it has a very ornate swing handle. It stands on a spreading fluted base. It measures approximately 12 inches in diameter and it stands 4 inches tall when the handle is down and 11 inches when the handle is in the upright position. It also of an impressive weight weighing approximately 40oz (1132g).
I cannot emphasise a stunning item this is, as the photographs do not do it justice, but it really is quite exquisite. It is an absolutely beautiful piece and would not look out of place in a stately home.
