Jetskiing, is a thrill that comes from cruising on the water's surface at speeds that can exceed 50 MPH (80 km/h)! Jet skis are not skis at all but rather a personal watercraft that operates on the premise of skiing. That is, the craft skips along the water's surface, much like snow skis would do on the slopes. They are fueled by gas-powered engines, some as strong as 150 horsepower. Some jet skisenable the driver to sit down with a person riding ‘shotgun’; while other units are meant to be operated by the driver in a standing position. Riding a Jet Skidoes require that you operate it with care. Proper safety equipment, such as life jackets and helmets are required.
