Even though there have been more concerns on primary education, high school education in Nepal is still not managed well. Consequently, the drop out rate is very high among the children of poor families.
Therefore, SSCT has launched Educate Nepalese Children
(ENC) from this academic year.
SSCT is committed to reach to these children, who have lost their parents during the armed struggle or whose parents are struggling with acute livelihood problem. We believe that these children also have right to services -education, and we are duty-bearers to make that possible.
ENC will be able to support limited number of students, who are more deserving. Specific criteria for selection will be:
-Studying in grade 9, 10, 11 and 12
-Promising academic performance,
-Conflict affected or food insecure families
-Family's commitment to supporting his/her education,
Girl child, dalit family child, child from indigenous nationalities will be given preference,
-Studying in government schools (not in private boarding schools).
You will contribute US$ (100NRs. 6500.00 )
to educate a child for a year. We will prefer selecting children who are in class 9 in next academic session. It is our long term program and we will cover the basic education costs of 4 academic years. It means a student who receives the scholarship support in class 9 will also receive in class 10, 11 and 12 (provided that her/his performance and family commitment level is at least the same). We would appreciate if you commit to sponser a child for at least two years.
SSCT will inform you (twice a year) on student's educational performance. If you are interested, we will give more details and address of the students you have sponsered.
