1982 Vespa P200E Custom Rally For Sale
I bought the bike in 2001 with 3,000 original miles on it. The original owner had bought it new in Berlin in 1982 but got pregnant the same year. She always thought she would ride it again once the baby was out of the stroller but she never did, keeping the scooter garaged for almost 20 years until I bought it. I rode it on a daily basis through Berlin in 2001 and 2002. That year I went to a German scooter rally and saw some half-assed attempts at customizing Vespa P bikes and thought that it could be done much better. I assigned the task of customizing the scooter to German custom bike master builder, Michael Huby who did lots of professional body work on this bike in the process. He has built award winning motorcycles in Europe, like the dragster bike Nosfearatu.
The Vespa is equipped with original 1960s Vespa Rally cowls, and an extended back end to match them. It has a 60s Vespa Sprint horncast that was welded onto the leg shield, and it has a custom-made drop handle bar (approx. 15 degree angle) that was custom made at the Mercedes Benz shop in Bremen, Germany out of a 1960s Vespa Sprint handlebar. It has working ox eye turn signals. The bike has a customized Vespa Sprint front fender that we cut and welded (metal work and welding only, not bondo) to make it fit over the original P fork. It is equipped with new cables, tires, cruciform, kick start gear, Sito Plus exhaust, etc. Everything works. It has new custom chrome wheels. All lights and all keys work and are provided. This bike is a beauty, but it's also a very reliable daily ride. It got a new paint job a little over a year ago and has been on the road for only a little over 500 miles since then. I recrently applied the vintage-style Vespa Rally stripe decals, but these could easily be removed in case the buyer doesn't like them. Some of the photos show the stripes, others were taken before I applied them. The European odometer shows 21,920 kilometers, but the bike actually has only about 20,000 km (which is 12,400 miles) on it. During the restoration we installed a vintage speedometer in the custom headset, and it had 2,000 km more on it than the bike had at the time. It starts on first kick, runs strong and fast, even more with the new Sito Plus exhaust. I rode it last week on the highway and the speedo showed over 105 km/h (approx. 65.5 mph).
