Comparing the Sole F80 and the Sole F83 is not particularly difficult because these two treadmills are quite similar to each other. In fact, their overwhelming similarities sometimes make me wonder why exactly is there a $300 price difference between the two. This review will breakdown exactly what you're getting in the F83 that you're not getting in the F80.
Both treadmills are rated with a 3.0 HP motor. With a motor rating this high, you can expect to walk, jog and run without any problems. Although they share the same motor rating, the Sole F83 is equipped with a larger belt measuring in at 20" by 58". Meanwhile, the Sole F80 is equipped with a small but respectable 20"X55". These three inches may not seem like a lot but if you're tall and running full speed, the extra 3 inches of differences between the two is noticeable. If you're of average height or even of slightly above average height, the Sole F80 is more than sufficient. One interesting observation is how despite having the same motor rating, Sole has decided to allow a maximum speed of 12 mph on the Sole F83 while only 11 mph on the Sole F80.
The Sole F83 is also about 10 pounds heavier than the Sole F80 which contributes to a heavier and more stable running surface. The Sole F83 is also rated with a slightly higher weight capacity. These two things may not seem like much and in fact, they really don't make too much of a difference. Even the treadmill doctor didn't give any noticeable differences in scores to either of these treadmills in terms of quality and reliability further suggesting that the Sole F80 is likely to last just as long as the Sole F83 in real life use.
The final difference between the two is the slightly upgraded console in the F83. While the Sole F80 treadmill's console only comes in one color (red), the Sole F83 treadmill is illuminated using three different display colors 0 red,green and gold.
Ultimately, you should make your decision based on your particular needs. For most buyers, I would reckon the Sole F80 as the better deal of the two.
Winner – Sole F80 is the better deal. Sole F83 is the better machine.
