The Smooth CE3.2 is a slight improvement over the Smooth CE2.1 but still has a long way to go to be considered on the same level as the Smooth CE7.4. You might be wondering what justifies the Smooth CE7.4 being 50% to 75% more expensive than the Smooth CE3.2. After all, even though there are quite a number of differences between the two ellipticals, 50% to 75% more is a lot more money. Surely, the extra 3” in stride length or the 35 pound weight difference or even the extra long warranty doesn’t and shouldn’t cause the price to jump up that much. But unfortunately, there really is that much of a price gap.
It’s up to you to decide whether you feel the price is justified. Most people probably don’t feel like forking close to over a $1000 for quality improvements when $1000 is enough to buy you an entirely new elliptical. But there are also some folks that feel one high quality machine is better than two average quality machines. For those people, the Smooth CE 7.4 is the obvious choice.
For most people, they’ll probably be happy purchasing the Smooth CE3.2 because they just don’t have that good of a reason to invest more than that in an elliptical trainer. But from a purely quality perspective, the winner is the Smooth CE7.4 in this match up.
