Smooth EVO 3i vs Smooth 9.45TV – Treadmill Comparison & Review

Quick Links

Other Smooth Treadmill Comparison Reviews

Side-By-Side Review

The Smooth EVO 3i and the Smooth 9.45 TV are two of the most expensive treadmills that are currently offered by Smooth Fitness in 2008. Unfortunately, depending on what price you buy it at, it may also turn out to be some of their worst all around bargains. As the Smooth 9.45TV is basically the Smooth 9.45ST with a TV, these two treadmills are bad deals for the same reasons detailed in the Smooth EVO 3i vs Smooth 9.45ST review. So to not reiterate what’s been said already, let’s instead take a look at how these two treadmills compare.

The Smooth 9.45TV’s most distinguishing feature is no surprise, the LCD TV that comes equipped with the treadmill. Measuring in at 15”, the TV equipped on the Smooth 9.45TV certainly makes running a lot less boring. When this TV is mounted on top of the sleek looking console, the end result is surprisingly pleasant.

It should be noted that currently out of all the Smooth treadmills being sold, the Smooth 9.45TV is the only one with a TV. As far as I know, the Smooth 9.45 TV is also the first treadmill from the company that includes a TV as part of the machine.

Unlike the Smooth 9.45TV treadmill, the Smooth EVO 3i is not nearly as well equipped in the entertainment area although it may actually be better if you’re buying a machine mainly to run on. This is because the Smooth EVO 3i comes with a motor with a higher horsepower rating (by a respectable 0.5 HP) than the 9.45TV and also comes with a longer belt at 62” long. If you’ve shopped around for treadmills, you might have noticed that an extremely small number of treadmills actually have belts longer than 60”. So at 62”, the Smooth Evo 3i really excels in this area.

Both treadmills come with a lifetime warranty on all parts excluding the LCD TV on the Smooth 9.45TV which is only warranted for one year. Labor warranty is the standard one year. Warranty is usually a pretty good indicator of quality with the general idea that the longer the warranty, the better quality the machine. So you might come to the conclusion that because both treadmills are warranted for life, they must be able to withstand an enormous amount of abuse. Although I wouldn’t say you’re off mark, you should keep in mind that the lifetime warranty is built into the price the treadmill sells at. If a treadmill sells at a premium, offering a lifetime warranty is a given.

In the end, both treadmills are selling for prices that do not justify themselves but if you had to choose, the EVO 3i is the better deal of the two despite being the older model.

Winner – Smooth EVO 3i but there’s a good chance the company might decide to phase out the EVO 3i shortly so this leaves the Smooth 9.45TV as the better choice only because it’s the only choice.
