Candida albicans is a yeast found on human skin surfaces and mucous membranes, specifically around the areas of the mouth, vagina, and rectum. While the presence of candida yeast on the human body is absolutely normal, problems can occur when it multiplies and essentially grows out of control.
Common candida symptoms and cure include yeast infections and a topical treatment used to eliminate the skin irritation caused by the yeast infection. Yeast infections can occur on many skin surfaces of the human body, including the area around the nipples, penis, armpits, ears, nostrils, and mouth. However, the most commonly referred to skin surface affected by yeast infections is that of the vaginal area.
Yeast infections of the vaginal area are characterized by a yellow or white discharge that can sometimes have a curd like appearance. Also, the abundance of candida yeast can lead to the swelling of the vulva, which can result in a burning and/or itching sensation in the area.
While topical creams used to cure yeast infections can temporarily eliminate the itching and discomfort, it is important to remember that it will do little to eliminate the abundance of candida causing the yeast infection. Topical treatments provide temporary relief.
