I have had to make the hardest decision of my life.
My two ferrets…, who I love so much, need to find a new forever home
I have cared and loved these two with all my heart. I made sure they had the best of everything- the most expansive and natural food, the best toys, filtered water, uncaged in my bedroom (well, their bedroom I should say) and most importantly, a loving home.
Unfortunately, life is not fair. I have to move out of my parent’s home and find an apartment. I searched high and low for anywhere that would allow ferrets, but the few I found required them to be caged.
I promised myself that the only reason I would give these two up would be my inability to care for them as well as I do now. Fate now has it that I can’t. They only know freedom of roaming in their room, climbing their ferret cardboard castle and twisting through tunnels. It would be selfish and cruel to confine them to a cage, especially when I work part-time and go to school full time.
Therefore, I am now in this position. I want them to go to a home that will care for them as well as I have or better. This is a requirement.
Let me tell you about them:
They are both around a year, the guesstimated birthday being in Jan.
The male’s name is Rami (Rah-me) and the female’s name is Gaia (Guy-ah)
They are free-roaming only-no cages. However, they can’t just wander around the house. They need a confined, ferret-proof area.
They are both litter-trained-no accidents unless you move the litter box
They eat Innova-Evo mixed with Wellness CORE no grain. This is their standard of food- only high quality.
They don’t bite, and Gaia loves to give kisses
Both are cuddly and sweet, Rami loves to play!!!
Requirements of adoption:
Must have vet references
Must have two personal references
Home-Inspection required
No young kids
No prey-aggressive animals (dogs that will kill a cat, for example)
Must provide high quality food and care
Must use ferret-knowledgeable vet
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH FERRETS
Must sign contract agreeing to these terms and agreeing to return them to me if you cannot keep them
Must pass a quiz-questions asked by me over the phone.
They will come with everything I own ferret-related. I have spent well over a thousand just on their supplies, not including vet bills, food, and litter
Here is an overview of what their adoption will come with:
All their toys and play areas: This included three tunnels, countless little balls and play things, a climbing/sleeping center, an octopus sleeper sack, a cardboard castle, hammocks, tents, and much more!
Their remaining food and food storage container and bowl, their Petmate fresh flow fountain
All health supplies: ferret cold medicine, ferret lax, ferretone, ferretvite, nail clippers, ear cleaner, dental gel, vitamins, shampoo (these have been used, but more then half full on all)
All their treats! They don’t really like them, but maybe you can try: I have about three or four bags of treats they won’t eat!
Clean up! Litter box, ferret-off, deodorizer, febreeze noticeable, gel air freshener and spray, ferret shampoo
Cages Used for TRAVEL: three story starter ferret cage (bottom page used as litter box though!) and two one level travel cages
And some nick-naks here and there!
The adoption fee for Rami and Gaia with all supplies is $500
Think this is a lot? Then you can’t afford to keep ferrets. These are high-maintenance animals- definitely not cheap pets.
